Argitech Adobe Brick®
CLAY ADOBE BRICK STABILISED WITH LIME AVAILABLE IN 6 X 11 X 22 CM AND 9 X 15 X 30 CM SIZES
The ARGITECH® Clay Adobe Bricks are renowned for their hardness, their stabilisation with lime which is perfectly mastered during their manufacture in the factory, and due to the many references from public and private construction sites where they have been used in France and abroad.
The main benefits provided by this product are the addition of thermal mass, good thermal diffusivity, and excellent regulation of humidity in the home.
Sizes & manufacture
2 main sizes (6 x 11 x 22 cm, 9 x 15 x 30 cm) are available in this range, but ARGILUS will respond to any request for different sizes that may be required for different types of work.
The ARGITECH® Adobe Bricks are manufactured from pure clay and lime (roughly 5%). ARGILUS prioritises manufacture which includes lime stabilisation in order to stop walls and partitions re-absorbing too much moisture or deteriorating rapidly due to their swelling.
The bricks can be used for various applications :
– Filling in half-timbering,
– Inertia walls (for accumulating heat – behind a wood stove for example),
– Partition walls,
– Solar walls.
N.B : The ARGITECH® Adobe Bricks are heavy. It must be ensured that the support material provides good resistance and stability. Generally the bricks are placed on an existing concrete floor. Please consult the manufacturer if you intend to use them in an upper floor of a building.
Accessories
PLEASE NOTE: you must adhere scrupulously to the quantities of water that are to be added (roughly 6 to 7 litres for a 25 kg bag), and in particular you must ensure that you don’t make the Adobe Bricks wet.
In order to ensure a high quality application of the Adobe Bricks it is recommended that they are installed in 2 stages:
1) use the mortar to build the adobe brick wall
2) once the wall has dried out, fill in the joints by using a mortar application bag or a fine-tipped trowel (with the same mortar)
In order to prevent any compression of the joints at the base of the wall, make sure that you only mortar up to a maximum height of 1.5 metres a day.
DRYING TIME : drying is assured after approx. 72 hrs.
